Founders
The three founding pillars of LUS: Dobrolad, WUBEF, Inc. in New York, and the affiliated structure in Poland.
LUS did not emerge from an abstract concept alone. It grew out of specific people and organizations with an existing record of responsibility, support, and cross-border work.
Dobrolad
The orphan-support organization Dobrolad cares for 15 children from the village of Torchynovychi in the Sambir district. These children are tied by a shared tragedy: their parents volunteered for the war and were killed. Among them are the two five-year-old sons of Ivan Makar.
WUBEF, Inc. in New York
The second founder is WUBEF, Inc. in New York. Its human base includes 20 classmates from the Strilkiv boarding school. A symbol of continuity in that story is their 95-year-old director Bohdan Zhydyk and his sister Oksana.
The Polish pillar
The third founding element is WUBEF, Inc.’s affiliated company in Poland at 2 Mostova Street, Przemysl. It broadens the League’s international presence and gives it an additional coordination point for work in Europe.
